Obligatory, Voluntary and disliked elements of Prayer.
Obligatory Acts: Intention, standing position, Bowing,
raising up after bowing, 2 prostration in each rakah, sitting between 2
prostration, sitting after last rakah, remaining in every state until one feels
at rest.
Obligatory sayings: Takbeerat ul Ihram, Fatiha, Tasleem.
Voluntary
elements: saying surah afte surah fatiha, saying حمده لمن هللا سمع in
standing position after raising up from bowing, saying takbeer other than
takbeeratul Ihram, raising one’s voice in loud prayers (Fajr, Maghrib, Isha),
Lowering one’s voice when reciting in day prayers (Dhur, Asr) ,saying salat . Tashahhud
after اللهم صل.
Effect of not
performing obligatory elements: prayer will be broken if obligatory elements
are omitted intentionally.
Effect of not performing voluntary elements: prayer will
be valid.
Disliked elements of prayer: Looking around, lack of
humility, prostrating over the head cover, looking at mobile phone during
prayer, confusing other by reciting aloud, few movements during the prayer,
moving ahead of the imam, crackling finger joints.
Hadith: Ayesha(R.A) asked prophet (S.A.W) about one’s
looking here and there and he replied: “It is what Shatan steals from the
prayer of any one of you”.
Effect of disliked elements: Reduce the reward.
Nullifiers of Prayer: No prostrating on one’s forehead,
performing prayer without ablution or with invalid ablution, performing prayer
hastily without feeling rest, Performing prayer in impure clothes or place,
Performing in wrong direction, unnecessarily sitting on a chair or other object
while performing prayer, eating, Drinking, Laughing, making an error in
reciting surah fatiha.
